[Grace
and Peace] EPHESIANS_
[Activity] Explore the logical flow of Ephesians 6:10-24…
[Read Ephesians
6:10-17]
In verse 10, what strength does Paul tell us we have for
this ‘battle’?
What kind of warfare are we engaged in (verses 11-12)?
[Activity] To win battles, God has provided a set of armour
for us (verses 13-17).
Identify the six pieces of armour and a specific way that we might use each
item today…
In what way is the ‘sword of the Spirit’, which is the word
of God, an offensive weapon in contrast to the other defensive weapons?
Which piece of the armour is difficult for you to
utilize and why?
How can you learn to actively “take up” that weapon?
[Read Ephesians
6:18-20]
The final weapon (if we can class it as one) is prayer.
How does prayer help us to fight spiritual battles?
Look at verse 18 again.
How is prayer hard work for you?
In verses 19-20, what does Paul personally ask his readers
to pray about for him?
“The
word Paul uses in verse 20 for ‘boldly’
could almost mean ‘brazenly’. He is settled, in his mind, that he will
go on talking about King Jesus, his victory over death, and his present and
future Kingdom, no matter what happens. But he knows that unless people are
praying for him he won’t be able to do it, and it wouldn’t mean anything if he
did.
So, having begun the letter with an extended prayer, and then an extensive
report of his own prayers for the young Christians in the area, he now finishes
it with the urgent request that they join him in this ministry.”
How are these ‘requests’ relevant for us and other
believers today?
[Read Ephesians
6:21-24]
In verses 21-22, why does Paul include these personal notes
about Tychicus?
Why do you think that Paul emphasises peace in his closing
greeting?
